WHAT'S HAPPENING AT THE CENTER
While we depend on donations to stock our shelves, we have a small staff and sometimes find it difficult to process the large number of donations we receive on a daily basis. As a consequence, we have to take a few hours in the afternoon to process items donated during the day.
PLEASE be sure to donate ONLY those items we can sell - items MUST be in a clean and saleable condition. Sure, everyone would like to save a few bucks on dump charges, but it's not fair to ask a nonprofit agency to bear the cost of sorting through things we can't sell, and then pay to have the hauler take it away. That only ends up hurting us - and it hurts the people we are trying to help.

CAREER ADVICE & JOB SEARCH STRATEGIES
Fridays: November 13 & 20 & December 4 & 11

With support from the Education Exchange, the Jonnycake Center of Westerly will host free drop-in sessions offering Career Advice & Job Search Strategies on Fridays: 11/13, 11/20, 12/4, 12/11 (no session 11/27).
At these sessions, expert guidance will be provided to attendees by Stephanie Hart Nowell, founder and managing partner of Occupational Resource Network, Inc., a firm providing vocational consultation and job placement services. Ms. Hart Nowell will offer attendees tips for identifying job goals, finding suitable job openings, writing an effective resume, and preparing for a job interview.
Ms. Hart Nowell holds a masters degree and a certificate of advanced graduate study in rehabilitation counseling from Assumption College. She has over 20 years of experience addressing occupational issues and facilitating employment.
These Career Advice & Job Search Strategy sessions are free and open to the public. The community continues to respond to our appeals for help with a record amount of donations of food, clothing, and household items to help our neighbors in need.
We need Volunteers to help us in our Food Pantry and Thrift Store, especially on Fridays and Saturdays.
If you belong to a club or civic organization, try to get a small group together to help us one day a month. Your contribution of time and effort is most gratefully appreciated.
