The Bradford Jonnycake Center of Westerly can provide emergency financial assistance to qualified clients who need help with rent and utilities expenses. Funds are also available for prescription medications, as well as other household expenses in unexpected financial crises.
Our Social Services Office is open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday from 9:00 a.m. to noon, on Thursday from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. The Social Services Office is closed on Sundays. Walk-in applicants are welcome, but a call ahead is recommended.
New applicants are interviewed by a staff case worker. The Social Services Office accepts referrals from area relief organizations and churches and also makes referrals to other local and state agencies to assist clients in alleviating identified needs, as part of the “Commitment to Change” Program, which is partially funded by a grant from the United Way.
Each application for assistance is reviewed by the Board Assistance Committee for approval. All payments are made directly to landlords, utility companies or pharmacies.
Our services are provided to residents of the towns of Charlestown, Hopkinton, Richmond and Westerly, Rhode Island. Documentation establishing identity (a driver's license) and residency (e.gas a recent utility bill) is required.
Call the Social Services office at 377-8069 to schedule an appointment.
